The Art of
Making it Happen

We like a loose brief and an ambitious idea. Often a project starts with a simple question: “Can this be made?”

Our answer is usually yes.

Metal Vision sits somewhere between artists, makers and engineers. We help develop the creative idea, work out how to manufacture it, build it and, where required, manage the installation. Tight deadline or unusual challenge, we don’t spend much time looking for problems; we work on the solution.

Fortnum & Mason

A second life. A little magic.

Creative development · Recycled stainless steel

Approached by Fortnum & Mason’s display team to help celebrate 100 years of Winnie the Pooh in collaboration with Disney, we created 50 individually made bees from recycled stainless steel.

From an initial loose brief, we developed the scale, construction and character of the bees, which appeared across Fortnum’s Piccadilly and St Pancras displays. After the installation, the bees were auctioned for the British Beekeepers Association, raising over £80,000.

A lovely example of creativity and sustainability coming together, turning recycled material into something special, before giving it another life beyond the display.

Charlotte Tilbury

Copper, with character.

Design · Handcraft · Global installation

Metal Vision has been part of Charlotte Tilbury’s journey from the early days, creating distinctive copper palm trees and chandeliers for stores around the world.

Each piece is designed and handmade in our Sussex workshop, working closely with the team to turn creative concepts into practical, installable pieces. We continue to manufacture and manage installations globally, using copper, a material that not only looks fantastic but is also 100% recyclable.

It’s an ongoing relationship built around trust, creativity and finding a way to make ambitious ideas happen.

Harvey Nichols

A window into motion.

Engineering · Manufacture · Kinetic installation

For Harvey Nichols, we created a fully mechanical kinetic installation running across all 12 windows, with suspended balls continually swinging throughout the display.

Starting with the creative concept, our job was to work out how to make it happen reliably in the real world, engineering, manufacturing and testing the mechanisms to keep everything moving.

And the story didn’t end there. The balls were later repurposed to form the bodies of the Fortnum & Mason bees, another example of materials from one project becoming part of the next.

THE SCULPTOR BEHIND METAL VISION

A sculptor’s eye.
A maker’s hands.

Founded by metal sculptor Paul Badham, Metal Vision brings an artist’s understanding of form and material to retail windows and installations. From our Sussex workshop, we work with brands and creative agencies to turn ambitious concepts into pieces made for the real world.
